3. NEUROMOTOR DEVELOPMENT PROTOCOL
Early years’ development sets the foundation for all successive learning. Reaching specific milestones of physical development in the early years, enables children to engage actively and learn efficiently.
When children are presented with areas of underdevelopment, they may experience difficulties in learning and further accessing school curriculum. Children who are not achieving average expectations for their age group at school, may subsequently exhibit compromised levels of confidence and self-esteem.
These physiological milestones are being addressed in a Protocol consisted of 4 fundamental Stages of development outlined below:
Building confidence triggers a growth mindset in children and young adults and simultaneously instils updated levels of self-belief, both of which are invaluable components of an individual’s personal development and academic learning journey.
This Protocol is based on and extracted from the manual ‘The Maze of Learning’ by Fit 2 Learn Clinic in the UK, with complete permission of the Clinic. It aims to work on retained reflexes and undeveloped areas to alleviate some of the burden posed on students with specific learning difficulties and their families.
How is this Protocol structured?
Homebased program
Consists of 7 Levels, covered in the course of 52 weeks (including compulsory breaks)
Requires up to 7 minutes of physical and fun activities per day
Facilitated and supervised at home by the parent/carer
Alongside each Level of work, a checklist is being provided, with the aim to help the child have a clear visual representation of their Weekly goals and to tick off the accomplished tasks/ activities.
Following the mastery of each Level, the child is being awarded with a Certificate of Achievement!
